Farr North Community Development is a charity and a company limited by guarantee. Our activity is governed by a Board of Directors whose role is to set overall strategy and to exercise overall control and supervision of our activity. Directors are volunteers.
Farr North is entering an exiting new phase, and we need Directors who can help us to ensure that our activity reflects community needs.
Our Board meets about 8 to 10 times per year. As a director you will be required to read Board papers and other relevant materials, attend meetings, and help to steer the organisation in a professional manner. You should expect to commit about 1 day per month to the role as a minimum.
Directors are appointed by our members at Annual General Meetings, but the Board can coopt Directors between AGMs when it is appropriate to do so.
Please contact us if you think you can help Farr North advance its mission to improve the lives of people living in Farr, North Sutherland.
Co-opted Director with special interest in Community Shared Ownership of Wind FarmsSalary: NoneOpen ended
We are looking for people with specialist skills to help to guide our acquisition of shares in local wind farms. We are looking for volunteer Directors who can help through this complex process. Your skills might include corporate finance, corporate law or the construction or operation and maintenance of renewable energy projects.
If appointed, you will work with the Trusts project manager, Simon Lee, and be guided by our team of professional advisers including Burness Paull LLP and QMPF. Your expertise will help to guide the Trust in its quest to secure meaningful local ownership of local wind farms.

Volunteer DriversSalary: NoneOpen ended
If you are aged over 25 and can drive a car why not give up a few hours a month to help people get to where they need to. Our pool volunteer drivers provide a hugely valued service to folk who otherwise would be stuck at home. Most trips are fairly local, but some journeys are longer. As a pool driver you can do as much or as little driving as you want. We'll ask - but if its not convenient for you just say no.
